I have moments when I have to drop everything and put pencil to paper. Not necessarily to create something for sale, but just an urge to do a drawing, to get something out of my system. The other week I had just such a moment and decided to draw one of the three bears that sits on my mantlepiece – Papa Bear as he is affectionately known. The drawing is pretty much as he and his friends are – a tiny bit sad, a tad serious. But how many smiling teddy bears have you seen in your life?

I posted an Instagram pic of Papa Bear online and he seemed to hit the mark for a lot of people so I’ve given him pride of place on a greeting card. What to do with a picture of a bear that looks sad and serious? Perfect for a card to tell someone in your life that you’re missing them. A bit of The Dog’s serious side showing through as it sometimes does, but then life’s not always about telling people just the happy things.
